Skydiving

The history of sky diving started with the successful jump of Andre-Jacques Garnerin in 1797. After that, many years have passed and this has become an international sport which is now recognized worldwide.

Exiting from an aircraft and making your way back to the earth again with the help of parachute is called sky diving. This adventure sport is now done in many places of the world. Generally the diver is deployed from a height from about one thousand to four thousand meters. If the diver makes the jump from less height, the parachute is opened immediately after the fall. At higher altitudes, the diver has the option of falling freely for a short period of time.

After the parachute is deployed, it takes about five to seven minutes to reach safe speeds  at which one may fall. By the time the parachute opens, the diver drops down by about eight hundred meters. The parachute has toggles by which its direction can be controlled.

Many people make their first jump with their trainer. It is hard to do it alone if it is the first time. Deaths while parachuting are very rare. Although that does not mean that casualties are zero. Every year, parachuting takes lives. But the ratio is very low. In USA, it is about 100000:1. So I think you can understand that how less the number of casualties are.

Try out this sport; I think you will surely remember it for a lifetime.
